I’ve always been involved in all kinds of creative expression and media beginning in third grade with taking photographs with my little Brownie camera at the Field Museum in Chicago. This eventually led to a degree in photography from Columbia College, Chicago. I’ve been a full-time resident of Lopez Island for 26 years, and have worked in the classroom with children teaching photography, podcasting, and filmmaking and was part-time technical director at the
Lopez Island Family Resource Center. Among many things, I am a former founding member of an artist’s co-op, Chimera, that is still going 25 years strong. I held a job as marketing director for an audio software company, which in turn created a keen interest in Internet radio, and technology. I held a board position on our local low-power FM station and continue to consult on tech related issues, and have also served on the programming & youth committees.
For the past five years I have produced a concert series at the Lopez Island Grange called the “Home on the Grange Series,” featuring many prominent independent acoustic musicians. I currently have a radio program on KLOI 102.9 called Gleanings. Many of the skills I have honed over the years I’ve been directly able to put to use working on publicity, promotions and websites for musicians and others.
